How Lokr works

Anonymous notes pinned to the place you’re in. Gone in 24 hours.

Every note just says “Anonymous”.

You see notes from about 15 km around you.

Text and photo are wiped after 24 hours.

Get in

Continue with Google, sign up with an email and password (you confirm it from a link), or look around as a guest. Guests can read a few notes; posting, liking and replying need an account.

Your board

You see notes pinned within about 15 km of you, newest first. Filter by tag or search them. Each note shows a distance bucket like “Under 1 km away”, never a place or a map pin.

Lokr asks for your approximate location. Your phone rounds it to roughly 1 km before sending it, and the server adds random noise before storing a note’s spot.

Coming soon: separate College and Work boards for people verified by a college or work email domain. Today everyone uses the Nearby board.

Pin a note

Up to 300 characters, a #tag of your choice, and optionally one photo (tap the + on the note). Before it goes up, our filter checks it. If it contains a phone number, link, handle or abuse, you’re told why and can edit it. See Moderation.

Notifications

The bell gets a red dot when someone replies to your note or to your reply, likes your note or reply, or when your note is about to expire. Today these show while the app is open; phone push notifications aren’t built yet.

24 hours later

The note fades through the day. At 24 hours its text and photo are wiped. The record itself, with its replies and likes, is deleted within about a day after that.

Automated content, plainly

New boards can feel empty, so Lokr posts some notes written by AI about your area, and a small number of automated accounts operated by Lokr may like or reply to new notes. They follow the same rules as everyone. We tell you this because you should know.
